In 1991 Dad (Paul Silseth) bought a 47 acre alfalfa field with 13 acres of woods behind it. We bought our first two heifers in the spring of 2005 and our first calf was born April 7, 2006. From that point we've grown into a full working farm. We now raise cattle, laying hens, pigs, and broiler chickens. (See For Sale). We are a family run farm: Dad, Mom, and six kids,(Luke 21, Ben 20, Elsie 20, Hannah 17, Molly 14, and Jack 12).
Twenty seven years later with the land we rent, we farm 125 acres of alfalfa, grass mixes, and some corn.
Dad (Paul) is a electrical line foreman for Xcel Energy by day and farmer by night.
Mom (Anne) is a homeschooling mom of six kids and is the one who does the upkeep of the website and blog.
Luke is in charge of the farm is equipment upkeep and repair.
Ben is the herdsman and in charge of all livestock operations.
Elsie loves being in the kitchen and is in charge of the garden.
Hannah is assistant herdsman and helps Ben with the livestock.
Molly is the chore helper.
Jack is our family comedian, athlete and YO-YO-er.
We have two Lab dogs, Hershey (AKA Thing 1) and Tess (AKA Thing 2). Both dogs have successfully raised several litters of kittens. Not puppies...kittens.
