In 1991 Dad (Paul Silseth) bought a 47 acre alfalfa field with 13 acres of woods behind it. We bought our first two heifers in the spring of 2005 and our first calf was born April 7, 2006. From that point we've grown into a full working farm. We now raise Hereford/Cross cattle, laying hens, broiler chickens, and occasionally pigs. (See For Sale). We are a family run farm: Dad, Mom, and six kids, (Luke, Ben, Elsie, Hannah, Molly, and Jack).
Thirty-some years later with the land we rent, we farm 125 acres of alfalfa, grass mixes, and some corn.
Dad (Paul) is retired and is busy 24/7.
Mom (Anne) has Jack left to homeschool and is the one who does the upkeep of the website and blog.
All of the kids have full-time jobs, or parttime in the case of Molly and Jack who are still in college or highschool. Luke and Ben are in charge of most of the farm, field, and equipment work. The rest of us try to help wherever and however we can.
We have two Lab dogs, Hershey and Tess. They are littermate sisters. Both dogs have successfully raised several litters of kittens. Not puppies...kittens.
